The misfit of demon king academy follows the journey of Anos Voldigoad who got resurrected after 2,000 years and what awaits him is a new world that he never expected. Is this another typical fantasy anime where the protagonist is overpowered with a harem? The answer is yes, though this anime does not focus heavily on harem for the good. There is not much uniqueness in this show and is quite similar to other anime.
What I do like about Demon king academy is the animation quality. The environment is depicted in a good manner but it is nowhere near famous animes such as Violet Evergarden who have masterpiece animation. Unlike some isekai, the quality of the art is above average which is probably the best thing about this anime in my opinion.
Animation Quality
Moreover, the characters in Maou Gakuin are average except the protagonist. The protagonist has a good personality and he is quite overpowered just like other fantasy/isekai. Another thing that I like is that Anos does not hesitate to remove any nuisance in his path. Even though the anime is not a harem in nature, there are few instances that signify that it is indeed a harem anime. Aside from the protagonist, other characters seem to be average with not much to offer as Anos is the hero of this show. Side characters could have been a lot better but it does not matter much since the demon lord is the backbone of Maou Gakuin.
Furthermore, the comedy is decent and is executed properly. If you are looking for a good laugh then this might be the anime for you. However, it is not in the same league as renowned Konsouba which is one of the best anime in this category so don’t expect the same level of comedy!
There are few things that may be a deal-breaker for potential viewers. The plot is below average or should I clearly say that it is poor. It was a major deal-breaker for me because there was not much in the story and as a consequence, I dropped it after a few episodes. Another weakness is, side characters being boring and generic to such an extent that it feels as if they are for just show and nothing more. I think side characters are more than just for show because they help the story progress otherwise the anime feels monotonous.
In conclusion, I feel this anime has potential and could have been a lot better. Overall, I would say that the Demon king academy is average with nothing special to offer. The characters are generic and the only best thing about this anime is the animation. Those who don’t have an anime to watch or want a laugh should try this anime. Personally, I would not recommend this anime to those who have high expectations from every single anime.
